I love it here because...
Poetic: Barry Rowlands found the best way to express his love of Cairns was in a poem.
Barry Rowlands shares a few verses as to why he loves Cairns so much...
What greater beauty could there be,
Than a sunrise o'er the sea.
Or effervescent waves that flee,
Before the wind and dance with glee,
As they break upon the shore,
Then struggle out to dance once more.
Or perhaps the wondrous shrouds,
Of cresting, moisture laden clouds,
Ever changing as they float,
Breathtaking, and yet so remote.
What of the sound of raging thunder.
As lighting tears the sky asunder.
Followed by the tears of Thor,
Bringing life to fallowed spore.
Which animated writhes its way,
To the golden light of day.
Unknowingly, it takes its part,
In natures gift of random art.
The sculpting of the hills and dales,
The spiraled shells upon the snails,
The flitting birds of varied hue,
The glittering of morning dew,
The waterfalls that carve out tracks,
The ever sparkling cataracts,
The insects, flowers, a falling leaf,
Magnificence of ocean reef.
Was all this beauty heaven sent
Or just a glorious accident.
