They came and they seesawed through their emotions, but only two out of seven conquered the Cairns last night in the third and final heat of this year's timeOUT Battle of the Bands at Gilligan's.
After each playing a three-song set, bands Recoil and The Medics wooed the crowd and judges and took the last two finalists' crowns on offer.

"People in Cairns really do love their live music and the crowd shows it," she said.
Seventeen bands have competed in three heats in past weeks.
On Friday the six finalists - Minus Penny, One Eyed Deer, Approaching Aver, For An Occasion, The Medics and Recoil - will compete for their chance to play in front of thousands of people at the timeOUT concert at the Cairns Showground on August 30, alongside Scribe, Kisschasy, Blue King Brown and Faker.
