THE Hire A Hubby maintenance and home assistance business is set for overseas expansion, with its first international franchise opening in the UK.
About 170 HaH franchise operators visited Cairns's Novotel for their annual conference recently, with delegates coming from across Australia.
Chief executive Brendan Green said it was an exciting time, with the UK franchise starting and the company putting out feelers in Spain and Canada.
"In the UK there is a massive shortage of skilled people there so there is a bit of a niche,'' he said.
Although the Australian economy was not roaring like it was last year, Mr Green said there always would be demand for maintenance.
"There is always something to be fixed about the house,'' he said.
Mr Green said holding the conference in Cairns was ideal, as it meant people could concentrate and enjoy the location.
HaH ambassador and television personality Scott Cam said the conference was also an opportunity to exchange ideas and add value to their businesses.
