VDS Aviation's new Sunset Champagne Flight offers locals and visitors alike the opportunity to witness the splendour of the Great Barrier Reef and the northern beaches of Cairns from the air.
In operation since 2005, VDS Aviation provides charter and panoramic services to most areas in the Cairns region, and their new Sunset Champagne Flight allows travellers to spend an hour sipping champagne with that special someone while taking in the region's natural wonders from the comfort of their twin-engine Beechcraft Baron 58.
As the city of Cairns shrinks away beneath the aircraft we're presented with a dramatic view of Trinity Inlet and the mountainside of False Cape.

With the sun setting at our backs, the landscape is illuminated a brilliant gold, while the ocean surface below reflects the afternoon's last dying light.
The flight veers north-east towards Michaelmas Cay as flocks of ocean birds circle the sandbars below. The horizon begins to turn a haunting shade of lavendar as dusk descends and we head north along Batt Reef.
Normally visible as bright shades of blue, yellow and green, the reef's more subdued hues glow softly at sunset, their expanse trailing off towards the horizon as we begin to fly west from Port Douglas and along the coast back towards Cairns.
The famous beaches of Palm Cove and Trinity Beach pass below us as we make our descent, relaxed and ready for whatever the evening has in store.
VDS Aviation's scenic sunset flight departs at 5pm for 30 minute and 60 minute flights around Tropical North Queensland. The price includes champagne, hotel transfer and flight certificate.
The Sunset Champagne Flight is a great way to end the day and an even better way to start the evening.
The Sunset Champagne Flight costs $250 per person for a 30min flight. Contact VDS Aviation on +61 7 4032 1958.
