FORMER Mulgrave Cricket Club fast bowler Luke Feldman is fit and ready to rip into the Kiwis when he lines up for the Queensland XI against New Zealand A in Brisbane today.

Feldman, who had plied his trade for Innisfail before last season, will take on a New Zealand team boasting internationals Peter Fulton, James Marshall and Michael Mason in a three-day clash at the University of Queensland.

The 24-year-old policeman, who is now based at Charters Towers after being transferred from Innisfail in February, yesterday had mixed emotions leading into the match.

"It’s exciting but I’m also a bit nervous," he said. "I just don’t want to get bashed around by first-class cricketers."

The 2007-08 Australian Country representative said he would try to treat the match like any other.

"When I get the opportunity I’ll just do what I always do, try to hit the deck hard and hopefully move the ball around a bit," he said.

Feldman is a member of the Queensland Academy of Sport and has completed a training session with the Queensland Bulls.

"That was good, I had a long chat with bowling coach Vic Williams and he’s happy with how I’m going and Bulls coach Trevor Barsby said I didn’t look out of place which was good to hear," he said.

The Queensland XI and New Zealand A will also meet in one-day matches on Sunday and Monday at Deagon, but Feldman has not been named in the side for those matches.

Bulls all-rounder Lee Carseldine will be in Cairns this weekend with the Beenleigh side to play the Cricket Far North President’s XI at Griffiths Park No.2 in a 50-over match on Saturday and a Twenty20 clash on Sunday.

State call-up: Former Mulgrave bowler Luke Feldman’s first class dreams have recieved a boost.
