IT'S the ultimate in sky-high adventure travel.

Eleven helicopters will take in the sights of the outback, Gulf country and Great Barrier Reef in the six-day 2008 Cape York Adventure safari to raise money for charity, indulging in fun and relaxation along the way.

Helibiz Helicopter Safaris sales manager Troy Holloway said previous safaris had toured Tasmania, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Alice Springs and Uluru.

"It’s totally different from the Tassie safari where you’ve got large rock walls and hills and big seas," Mr Holloway said.

"In the Far North we’ve got crocs and warmer weather and it’s just different.

"It’s great to see the different parts of Australia in the air."

The choppers leave Airlie Beach on Monday for Charters Towers and Georgetown.

After re-fuelling they will leave for Normanton and arrive in the Gulf of Carpentaria for fishing on Sweers Island on Tuesday.

Karumba, Kowanyama and Weipa are on the itinerary for Wednesday.

Thursday will include a fishing competition in the Torres Strait and on Friday they leave for Lockhart River.

On Saturday the group will head to Port Douglas where they will down their machines for a cruise on a catamaran, before returning to Airlie Beach on Sunday.
