Young talent on song
SHE lives and breathes music.
Singing sensation Emma-Louise Lobb loves the buzz from a live crowd.
The Mooroobool acoustic guitar player will perform some of her repertoire at the Esplanade tomorrow as part of the Tanks Arts Centre’s Sneaky Beats music showcase.
Part of Festival Cairns, Sneaky Beats puts young talent on stage to showcase the quality and diversity of music being produced by youths, from reggae to heavy metal and indie rock.
Miss Lobb said she would also perform at Carnival on Collins at the botanic gardens and Tanks Arts Centre on Sunday.
"I’ve got five gigs this weekend," the teenager said.
"It’s going to keep me busy, but I’m looking forward to it.
"I live for it (live music) and the energy you can create from a crowd and get from them."
Amedance, a four-member band from Gordonvale State High School, will also perform at Sneaky Beats, as well as The Medics, Echoed Silence and Sian Evans Band.
A Tanks Arts Centre spokeswoman said the event gave young entertainers a chance to prove themselves on a live stage.
"The Tanks Art Centre has been fostering live music in the region by facilitating young people to stage and perform at their own events," the spokeswoman said.
"The hugely successful Battle of Edmonton and Turn It Up at Gordonvale are both testament to this with great attendance and quality entertainment."
The event starts at 4pm and entry is free.
