Fashion wins a family affair
Amateurs a winner: There were stunning fashions and beautiful ladies everywhere you turned at the 50th Cairns Amateurs party at the weekend.
FAMILY connections paid off for this year's Cairns Amateurs Fashions on the Field winners with the under 25, open and couples outfits all made by relatives.
In her black, white and red outfit made by creative mum Cathy, Emma Verri, 22, took out the under 25 award in her Gucci inspired outfit.

"I saw it in a magazine and mum worked miracles," Ms Verri said.
Ms Verri has been entering the fashion competitions since she was 17, taking out her second award this year.
"I’m ecstatic. It’s fantastic," she said.
Yvette Thompson’s aunt, Pauline Fenich, was the creator of the winning open section Ralph Lauren-inspired outfit.
"I am absolutely elated and beside myself," Ms Thompson said.
"If I was a judge, I couldn’t have picked a winner."
And in keeping with the family tradition, couple winner Liz Greatorex’s outfit was also made by her mother and then matched by partner Paul Yelaska.
Judge and celebrity designer Juli Grbac said she was "blown away" by the fashion and the Amateurs carnival.
"As a judge, it has been so hard," Ms Grbac said.
"I can’t wait to come back next year."
