THIRSTY revellers twice had organisers rushing for emergency supplies of beer at Oktoberfest celebrations on the weekend.

Organiser and Germania Club president Werner Siegmann said a ute was sent to Dan Murphy's on Friday and Saturday to replenish dwindling bottled beer supplies.

Food supplies also disappeared rapidly as revellers arrived with voracious appetites.

Almost 3000 people attended across the two days with Mr Siegmann declaring the event "a total success".

"The whole place was pumping and I had strangers coming up and thanking me for what we were doing," he said.

"It was an absolutely brilliant event and I was glad the weather held. The music was good and the party mood lasted all night."

People from around the world attended the event, including Germans, Australians, Dutch, Swiss and Italians.

Mr Siegmann said while a few people had to be removed, the crowd was extremely well behaved.

"I would like to thank all the people who attended," he said.

Oktoberfest in Cairns was organised by the Germania Club and Cairns Jockey Club.
