Pig hunter found

A PIG-hunter missing overnight in thick scrub west of Tully, south of Cairns, has been found this morning.

State Emergency Service area director Wayne Hepple said the man was walked out of the dense bushland about 9.30am after a "rugged night".

"He's covered in scratches and has numerous leeches. He also has stinging injuries. It's pretty rugged countryside here. It's where the Army does its training," Mr Hepple said.

Police said the man, 26, got lost in the darkness after his head torch blew while he was hunting a pig.

The man has been taken to Tully Hospital for treatment.
