Close shave for mechanic

A WHITFIELD hair boutique has come to the rescue for Andrew Hirst's hairy situation.

The refrigeration and airconditioning mechanic, who underwent a tendon-releasing right elbow operation last Tuesday, needed a shave but could not do it himself or find a barber to do the job.

Enter Susan Harvey, from Blossom Hair Boutique.

Ms Harvey said she still shaved men with a cut-throat razor but said it was a dying trade.

"I learnt to do it on a balloon until I didn't pop it any more," Ms Harvey said.

"I think it gives the ultimate finish and it's a closer shave than a normal shave and will give Andrew an extra two days compared with a usual razor."

Mr Hirst said he felt relieved to have a shave.

"It is great to have it off," he said.

"I'll be going back."

Top finish: Andrew Hirst is given a razor-sharp shave yesterday.
