A TEENAGE girl claims a Cairns taxi driver fondled himself while she was a passenger in his car from North Cairns to White Rock.

"The taxi driver had his hands in his pants and was groping himself," the girl's mother told The Cairns Post yesterday.

"She just sat their quietly and told us as soon as she got home what had happened."

The girl’s complaint was reported to police and is still being investigated.

The shocking claim emerged as the Department of Transport confirmed it would investigate another complaint by a woman who said a taxi driver recently tried to hit on her in front of her children.

The mother-of-two said she wanted other women to be aware of the inappropriate comments because she felt Black and White Taxis had not done enough to stop it happening again.

Black and White Taxis confirmed they had spoken to the driver in question.

Two examples of bad behaviour by Cairns cabbies has been alleged this week.
