Ninety muscled-up and restored cars were seen by about 6000 people who walked through the gates of the Cairns Showground on Saturday and Sunday.
While the cars sat as eyecandy, the eight tonne diesel-powered Bandag Bullet stole the show during a display when it roared its spectacular supercharged and turbocharged engine, doing 0-180km/h in just 14 seconds.
Manager Alison Stickens said vehicles valued at about $5 million, mainly from the Far North, were judged in 40 different categories including best interior and best custom paint job.
"We had fabulous old restored chevvies, hot rods and lowered cars," she said.
"Some of them don’t have a spec of dust on them.
"Most of the cars came from locals, but you don’t see these things driving around the street every day."
Ms Stickens said motorcycle stunt team Cunning Stunts, four show cars from Brisbane and a sprint run from muscle cars kept the crowd at bay.
"There were families but lots of dads and sons too."
The Bandag Bullet is the world’s fastest truck after setting a world record – of 305.5km/h over 1km from a standing start – at an air show at Bundaberg airport in 2005.
