Natural light show
Lucky strike: Lightening over Walsh's pyramid.
AS Cairns residents sweated it yesterday, a light show raged above, complete with thunder and lightning as a storm brewed.
And, in the thick of it, Joanne Chiozzini, of Gordonvale, was out with her camera.
Her picture of a lightning strike over Walsh's Pyramid was as dramatic as the storm itself, which cut power to Gordonvale, south of Cairns, fomr 7.30pm.
In Cairns, the situation was no better.
By 10.30am, the temperature at the Cairns Airport had already spiked at 36.1C before cooling sea breezes began to blow in to stop the mercury rising and, in the evening, lightening lit up the sky.
