FRUSTRATED Cairns police say the "silly behaviour" of drivers will lead to an ever-climbing toll of crashes and injuries this wet season unless people slow down.
Emergency services were stretched yesterday by six minor traffic accidents in just four hours.
Traffic on the Kuranda Range was brought to a halt for about an hour after a semi-trailer and a
four-wheel-drive vehicle towing a trailer lost control near Henry Ross Lookout about 10.30am. No one was injured in the accident.
Minutes after the road was reopened, a Holden Commodore skidded off the Trinity Beach roundabout on the Captain Cook Highway and was left teetering on the edge of a 5m embankment.
The driver received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
In the city, emergency crews closed one lane of Sheridan St to clean up after an accident on the corner of Aplin St about 11.20am.
The crash happened just minutes after another accident on Sheridan St, at the corner of Upward St.
Three cars were also involved in a crash on Lake St, near Florence St, and crews attended a minor bingle at the corner of Minnie and Martyn streets about 1.30pm.
