Teen rider dies

A TEENAGE boy has died after trying to cross a flooded causeway on a motorbike outside Herberton, west of Cairns.

The 16-year-old had been riding on Hales Siding Rd at Irvinebank, and was due to arrive at his Wondecla home  at  about 6pm yesterday. 

When he  failed to return, a search of the flooded causeway was conducted.

His body was found about 12.30am by members of the search party.

Police were notified of the find and  investigations are continuing.
