THE Cairns woman at the centre of an overweight seating drama with Jetstar has hit international headlines.

After the story broke in The Cairns Post on Tuesday, Samantha Scafe, a 160kg IT expert, has been the subject of stirring discussion on cairns.com.au (with 30,000-plus hits on the story) and, overnight, she was interviewed live on American television.

The top-rating US breakfast show, Fox and Friends, interviewed Ms Scafe for more than two minutes (under the headlines, "Charging Fat Flyers More" and "Australian Airline Defends Practice") about the 45-year-old's catalogue of problems with discount airline Jetstar, which, initially, asked her to pay for two seats for herself on a flight from Cairns to Coolangatta this week "for other people`s comfort".

In the Fox interview, Ms Scafe recounted that after paying for the second seat, Jestar then bungled the booking by splitting up her seats.

Ms Scafe was also the subject of discussion on Channel Nine's Mornings with Kerri-Anne yesterday, as well as numerous other talkback programs around Australia.

Media star: Samantha Scafe was instructed to buy two seats on a flight due to her large size.
