Stomp draws rave reviews
CAIRNS city's heart beat to a frenetic pace last night as the Stomp The Nard in City Place breakdancing battle thrilled a 1500 strong crowd.
Spectators from toddlers to grandparents cheered as more than 100 "poppin and lockin" dancers aged between four and 40 let fly with an athletic array of air chairs, windmills and air flairs – all striving for gold in the breakdancing, hip hop and krump divisions.
Deejay A.N.G said the fourth instalment of the annual event had been the most successful.

"It is an amazing turnout," he said.
"There is nothing else like this anywhere in Australia."
"It has totally exceeded expectations."
Chris "B-boy supra" Joiner, who won his breakdancing division and has taken part every year, said dancers saw the night as an outlet for their art, not about "winning a prize".
"Dancing is about expressing yourself, it is life to me, it is basically who I am," he said.
B-boy encouraged other youths to get into dancing and to take up the challenge at next year’s Stomp.
"You are getting out there, getting fit and meeting people," he said.
"I will definitely be back next year. It is only going to get bigger and bigger."
Cr Alan Blake was on hand to watch the event sponsored by Cairns Regional Council and said he was impressed by the atmosphere and the attitude of all who were there.
"It is great to see the support from the community especially from the younger generation with their families," he said.
"It is great for the city."
