Wilson riding high
ATHERTON'S Wilson Todd proved he is one of the most exciting riding talents to emerge in Queensland the past year by winning his division of the Sunshine State Motocross Series.
The Queensland Yamaha Junior Development Team member took out the 9-11 years 85cc section by 58 points after winning the sixth and final round of the series at Coolum.
Team manager Scott Bishop said the 11-year-old had the competitive streak of a more seasoned rider.
"When you sign someone that age you can never be entirely sure of what you are going to get," Bishop said.
"But he’s done remarkably well. He’s podiumed every time he’s got out on the bike and won 14 of his past 15 races.
"He’s just a real little competitor and I think that’s what drives him whenever he races."
Todd’s next assignment is the first round of the Queensland Motocross Championships in Townsville starting on May 2.
