Teachers take over Cazalys
MORE than 1000 teachers from across the Far North have packed into the grandstand at Cazalys stadium to protest against the Bligh Government`s pay rise offer.
A further 500 teachers from Cape York and the Torres Strait have also met, as teachers across Queensland today took industrial action following stalled negotiation talks last week.
Queesland Teachers Union Far Northern organiser Maureen Duffy led today's strike action and said the meeting should send a clear message to the government about teacher pay.

She said Queensland teacher's pay was among the lowest in the country and said it was working to drive teachers away from Queensland to other states, where they could be paid up to $7000 more a year.
Child supervision has been organised at State schools during today's strike, but parents were asked to keep their children at home if possible.
