Looking back: The history of the Cairns region's coffee industry is explored in a new book.

A NEW book takes a look back through time at the work of pioneer coffee farmers in Far North Queensland.

The story of Nat and Linda Jaques' pioneering work in setting up the industry in the region is told in a new book focused on inspiring Queenslanders.

The Mareeba farmers' story joins that of nearly 130 other inspirational Queenslanders in the coffee table book Queenslanders All Over, written by Joan Burton-Jones.

It's an in-depth look at sport, business, the arts, community and innovation in the State, while at the same time offering an insight into the hopes and dreams of families and communities.

Speaking from the book launch at Parliament House, Ms Jaques said it was an huge honour for the family's story to have been considered worthy of inclusion in the book.

"Joan rang us up about three years ago and asked us if we would like to be included," she said.

"It's about inspiring Queenslanders so to be included is such an honour."

The Jaques' story covers five pages in the book and details the family journey from Zanzibar, off Africa, to Mareeba on the Atherton Tableland.

Ms Burton-Jones the book, in itself, was symbolic of how Queensland had developed.

"Many of the people featured in the book, I had known from when I was a child, but there were many I didn't know and who were referred to me by others."
