The mighty Daintree River is the gateway to the lush, world-heritage listed rainforests of the Daintree National Park.

Located around an hour and a half’s drive north of Cairns, the Daintree is one of the region’s top tourist attractions.

The largest patch of rainforest in Australia and one of the oldest in the world, the Daintree is teeming with animal and plant life.

Access to the Daintree is provided through the Daintree River Ferry, which operates from 6am till midnight, 365 days a year.

The cost of crossing the river goes toward safeguarding the delicate ecosystem of the area.

Public transport is limited, so those without a car will have to look at one of the many tours that take visitors across the river daily.
