Ship protester arrested
A PROTESTER has been arrested after he attempted to breach security at the USS Tortuga.
The protester, equipped with a ladder, tried to scale the fence surrounding the ship, which along with the USS Essex, is docked in Cairns.
Earlier, Peace by Peace member Bryan Law had signalled the group's intention to hold a nonviolent "citizens' inspection" because the group was suspicious of the navy ships, the USS Essex and USS Tortuga.
He said if the vessels had nothing to hide, the ship's personnel would co-operate with them and allow the inspection.
He said it was to reassure Cairns residents of their peaceful intentions.
