Abortion case date set
POLITICIANS, doctors and police will give evidence at a hearing in the case of a Cairns couple accused of procuring an abortion.
In Cairns Magistrates’ Court this morning, the case was adjourned and a committal hearing was set down for September 3 and 4.
Twelve witnesses will give evidence at the hearing.
A 19-year-old woman is charged with attempting to procure a miscarriage and her partner, a 21-year-old man, is charged with attempting to procure an abortion and supplying drugs or instruments to procure an abortion.
