MORNING joggers and walkers stumbled on a couple having sex at a barbecue area near the Lagoon last month
But it was only the woman who was charged with causing a public nuisance after she abused police for disturbing them about 9.30am on June 24.
Mellice Repoam, 41, failed to appear in Cairns Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was fined $550 in her absence. She also had a conviction recorded.
Police prosecutor Troy Sutton said police found the couple after they were called to the Esplanade.
Sen-Constable Sutton said Ms Repoam had been drunk and kept shouting an incorrect name to police, who finally learned her correct identity after finding her driving licence in her bag.
