Parents face no-school charge
A TULLY couple has been charged with allegedly failing to send their 15-year-old son to school.
It is alleged the 54-year-old man and 53-year-old woman had been contacted numerous times from 2007 by Education Queensland to discuss their child not attending school but they allegedly failed to address the issue.
This case was referred to police by Education Queensland and they were charged yesterday with contravening Section 176 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 - failing to ensure a child of compulsory school age attends school.
They were issued with a notice to appear and are due to appear in the Tully Magistrates Court on August 13.
