School in mourning
THE close-knit Cairns Adventist School community was yesterday coming to grips with the accident that claimed the life of a parent and seriously injured a student.
Principal Clinton Bond said victim Carrie Stone walked her daughter Isabel, a prep student, to school every day.
"She is a bubbly student. She seems to enjoy life and was very happy here," he said of Isabel.
Mr Bond said the school’s 53 students had been told there was an accident involving a parent and a student but no details were given.
He said a letter had been sent home to all parents advising them what had happened and that Isabel was in a critical condition.
Mr Bond said children would be offered one-on-one counselling by a church pastor and the school chaplain.
