Hey hey, it's a new tourism ad

BREAKING NEWS: Premier Anna Bligh has unveiled Queensland Tourism's new television advertisements in Cairns this morning.

The $5 million new tourism plan includes four new television commercials, featuring four of the Best Job in the World candidates doing a rendition of The Monkees' tune with the new lyrics "Hey hey we're in Queensland".

Premier Anna Bligh and Treasurer Andrew Fraser announced the plan at Cairns' Reef Fleet Terminal this morning.

The commercials are aimed at attracting domestic tourists and will be screened nationwide until the June 2010.

"I can guarantee it will have everyone smiling, tapping their toes and singing along," Ms Bligh said.

"It's fresh and vibrant and shows the variety of experiences on offer here: natural encounters, adventure, islands and beaches and the unbeatable Queensland lifestyle."

The campaign features Best Job in the World finalists James Hill from Queensland, Magali Heuberger from the Netherlands, Mirjam Novak from Germany and George Karellas from Ireland.

"The Best Holiday campaign will run in partnership with tourism operators throughout the State, offering them a cost-effective opportunity to be involved in a high impact national campaign," Ms Bligh said.
