Cairns abortion vigil starts
PRO-choice activists have begun a vigil at the Cairns courthouse ahead of a controversial abortion case to be heard tomorrow.
A young couple will appear in court in Cairns tomorrow, charged with procuring an abortion, in a controversial case that has attracted national media coverage since The Cairns Post revealed the unusual charges had been laid.

The case comes as amendments to Section 282 of the Criminal Code were introduced last night and are expected to be passed this week.
Premier Anna Bligh on Monday said the changes were being made as science had progressed past the provisions of the current law.
It follows concerns raised by doctors about the legality of the procedure that has reportedly led to its suspension in the state, forcing some patients to go interstate.
