AFTER 37 years at the one spot, Quaid Real Estate is leaving its home at the Adelaide Steamship Company building at the corner of Lake and Spence streets.

They aren't moving far, however, staying in the CBD and shifting into the Quaid Group's adjacent building at 35 Lake Street.

The move means the staff from affiliated companies, Quaid Real Estate, Quaid Auctioneers and Colliers International, will for the first time work under the same roof.

"Over time we found that we were only using half of our existing space in each of the adjoining buildings so it made sense to combine the operations of both the Quaid and Colliers businesses within the same building," Quaid Group managing director Stacey Quaid said.

"With two levels, 35 Lake St can accommodate our Colliers International commercial business on the top level and our Quaid Real Estate and Quaid Auctioneers business on the ground floor."

Mr Quaid said housing all the businesses together would increase teamwork and made good commercial sense as there was plenty of space available.

"Our auction warehouse will of course still operate at 401 Sheridan St opposite the airport turnoff," he said.

The move means the Adelaide Steamship Company building, one of four historic buildings at the 'Heritage Corner', will be available for lease.
