Mum thanks pro-choice supporters
THE mother of a man accused of helping his girlfriend procure an abortion has thanked pro-choice supporters outside the Cairns courthouse.
Sergie Brennan, 21, is facing a charge of supplying drugs to procuring an abortion. His girlfriend Tegan Leach, 19, is charged with procuring a miscarriage.
Mr Brennan’s mother last night met with pro-choice activists who are holding a round-the-clock vigil outside Cairns courthouse.
She thanked them for their support.
Pro-choice activists stage vigil
A roster of 50 people is helping maintain the 24-hour vigil, with supporters flying in from Brisbane to assist.
Mr Brennan and Ms Leach appeared in Cairns Magistrates' Court this morning for a committal hearing.
The magistrate is yet to make a decision or set a new court date.
