Cooktown properties up for grabs

THE hammer is about to fall on two quite different Cooktown properties.

One is a commercial development site earmarked for a possible service station. The other is a rural residential lifestyle property.

Commercial real estate company Colliers International Cairns will auction both properties at The Sebel Cairns at 11am on November 12.

Dan Brown, from Colliers, said the commercial site was at the intersection of Boundary St and Charlotte St at the southern entrance to Cooktown.

He said the position was ideal for a service station or roadhouse.

"The property in fact comprises four separate freehold commercial lots which are being sold together in the one 3947sq m parcel," he said.

"This is a well-appointed, level, flood-free site that once housed a service station."

Mr Brown said the growth of Cooktown as a tourist destination meant there were many opportunities to develop a business.

"A service station or roadhouse are obvious uses, subject to all the relevant approvals, but the new owner may de- cide on some better use for the site," he said.

Also for auction is an elevated rural residential property with views over Cooktown and the Endeavour River.

"This really is a beautiful lifestyle block for someone who wants to build a home where they can escape from everything and simply enjoy the relaxed northern lifestyle that Cooktown has to offer," Mr Brown said.

"It’s close to the amenities of town yet far enough away to create a private retreat that will allow you to enjoy magical views over the town and the Endeavour River."
