CROCODILE Trophy 2009 winner Urs Huber believes he will return to race the mountain bike classic again - he just has not decided when yet.
With the general classification decided on Wednesday, the Croc Trophy competitors relaxed during the 49km stage between Ayton and Cape Tribulation before finishing on Coconut Beach.
Huber, who withstood a challenge from former world champion Bart Brentjens to top the general classification, was relieved the 10-stage, 1200km odyssey was over.
"I’m very happy. It was 10 very hot days and now I can rest," the Swiss rider said.
"Ten days is a long time on a bike and I’m happy to finish first.
"I think Bart is a great person in our sport and to beat him is a big thing."
The 24-year-old, however, was not sure if he would return to defend his title next year.
"I want to come back. Maybe next year or later," he said.
"I have a bit to think about and I’m not sure about it yet."
Brentjens also has a desire to return to the Croc Trophy. The 41-year-old said the race suited his talents.
"It’s very good for me," he said.
"It’s different. There is rough terrain, camping and sleeping in a tent and you have to organise things really well.
"But it was a lot of fun."
The Dutchman, who is considered one of the all-time greats of mountain biking, said Huber deserved his victory.
"The last stage before this was the last chance to chase the general classification but it didn’t happen," he said.
"Urs is very strong and it was hard to beat him.
"He was a little bit stronger in the uphill. He was very consistent and didn’t waste much energy.
"I think he is a good winner and I have to be happy with my second place."
