Cairns divided over Bruce Highway plans
UPDATE: Plans for a multi-billion-dollar Bruce Highway upgrade for Cairns have met with a mix of delight and skepticism this morning.
Details of three options for the upgrade were revealed exclusively by The Cairns Post.

In a post on cairns.com.au, Dean of Far North praised the plan.
“Finally - this is outstanding and a must for Cairns. Why has it taken so long?????” he asked.
Neal Hotham of White Rock described the plans as “awesome”.
“Bring it on and get it happening. Not just for Cairns residents but for any tourist that has been stuck in the mess,” he wrote.
But others were less than convinced the plans took the right approach, with public transport among the key concerns.
Tom of Manoora wrote in a text message: “Grand road plan, here we go again, traffic problem, just build more roads, why just 4 once cant we do something different, like more public transport?”
Tony of Cairns was unimpressed by words without action: “Politicians and a Grand Plan, are we still falling for this stuff?”
