Internet outages strike Cairns
NORTH Queensland businesses have been thrown into chaos by a Telstra outage which has affected telephones, internet and EFTPOS transactions.
A Telstra spokeswoman said the outage, which originated in Townsville, hit Cairns just before midday, and caused problems until about 3.30pm.
It's understood it has affected residents and businesses as far north as Cooktown.
The exact nature of the outage was yet to be determined, but internet experts have described its size as "unprecedented".
