Motoco opens $1m showroom
MOTOR dealer Motoco Group Cairns has completed the first of its $1 million-plus expansion plans.
A new showroom and workshop for the French Citroen brand and the Chinese Great Wall marque have opened for business in Lyons St, Westcourt.
Dealer-principal Brian Christensen said it would enable the dealership to display the models in a truly professional manner.
"Citroen Australia is very pleased that for the first time in Cairns they have their own showroom," he said.
"A lot of regional Citroen dealerships don’t have their own facility."
Mr Christensen said a showroom was one of the requirements of the Great Wall franchise agreement.
The former Honeycombes Automotive Group dealership on Mulgrave Rd is also extending its hangar-style Audi showroom.
Mr Christensen said the upgrade would meet Audi’s high standards, right down to specific tiles and furniture imported from Germany.
"This will make it a customer-friendly upmarket atmosphere," he said.
Mr Christensen said the expansion would allow room for two more Audis to be displayed, a service reception and customer waiting area and dedicated airconditioned delivery, parts and service bays.
"We are continuing to improve our facilities for our customers," Mr Christensen.
He said because of the economic climate plans for the Porsche Centre Cairns with a showroom and service and parts areas were on hold.
Mr Christensen said Motoco was continuing to service Porsches and advise on sales and other inquiries.
