Electric Avenue presents its last international act for 2009 this weekend at Fabric
Irish duo Splitloop have taken the dance world by storm since meeting on a bus going to a Prodigy gig back in the day.
Finding they had more in common than just a love for Liam Howlett’s beats, Phil and Brendan formed an enduring partnership that’s rocketed them to the top echelons of the breakbeat premier league.
Naming themselves after one of their first productions together, the guys quickly made a name for themselves with early releases on the acclaimed Sinister label.
But it was the track KFC on Krafty Kuts’ label Against The Grain that really established the guys as one of the big players on the international breaks scene and led them to be signed on to the same label as The Freestylers, Deekline & Wizard, Ed Solo, School of Thought and more.
Following the release of 2008’s critically acclaimed Pleasure Machine album, which was named Album of the Month in DJ Mag, the guys are back in the country and telling everyone to put on their bass-face.
Not content with their recent massive remix of Rico Tubbs The Party (which was named Mixmag Tune of the Month in July), Splitloop scooped the award again for their new release, Ghetto UK/Side To Side.
This marks the first of a run of double A-sides set to drop on the breaks scene over the next year.
>> Splitloop perform at Fabric on Saturday night, with doors open at 9pm. Support comes in the shape of Smooth-E, Crasey, Battlekat and JT. Entry is $10 on the door.
