Remember Dan Sultan, who came up to Cairns as part of The Black Arm Band earlier this year?

The former local, who spent some of his schooling years in Cairns, has been making waves in the music and acting industry of late.

Not only is Dan one of the stars of the upcoming flick Bran Nue Dae – also starring Geoffrey Rush, Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy and Ernie Dingo – but he’s just released his long-awaited second album, Get Out While You Can, which has been received with much fanfare, including the prestigious Triple J Feature Album of the Week this week.

Recorded in Melbourne using vintage recording equipment, it features guest appearances by Ella Hooper (formerly of Killing Heidi) and the legendary Vika and Linda Bull (who rose to fame singing backing vocals for The Black Sorrows).

Unlike his first album Homemade Biscuits, which was recorded almost entirely by Dan and his musical partner Scott Wilson, Get Out While You Can features a massive band of great musicians in full swing.

You can also catch Dan performing live on Saturday night on the RocKwiz 100th Episode Special on SBS.
