JETSTAR will announce details of its new Cairns flights today.
Today's announcement follows a deal, announced last week, for Jetstar to provide an extra 300,000 international and domestic seats for Cairns over the next two and a half years.
Jetstar flights to boost economy
A senior Jetstar executive, Barron River MP Steve Wettenhall, Cairns Airport chief executive officer Stephen Gregg and Tourism Tropical North Queensland chief executive Rob Giason will reveal details of the flights at Cairns Airport later this morning.
The seats replace last year's cancellation of 14 Qantas flights from Japan to Cairns.
That meant a loss of 1603 seats a week or 208,309 passengers over two and a half years.
It's expected Japan will feature as a key destination in the details of the flights to be announced today.
Updates to come.
