Huge hamburgers worth the ride
Bike-riding burger hunter: Charley Boorman at Mossman Gorge, north of Cairns.
FORGET the Reef and rainforest, it's the humungous hamburgers at a cafe near Cairns that has world famous traveller, writer and actor Charley Boorman raving about Far North Queensland.
A visit to the Mt Molloy Cafe, northwest of Cairns left such an impression upon Boorman that he named an entire chapter is his book Right to the Edge after it.
“They’re pretty big burgers, as well. I couldn’t finish it,” he said.
Boorman, the best mate of Hollywood superstar Ewan McGregor, told The Cairns Post he loves visiting Far North Queensland, a destination he has visited five times since he was 19.
"This time was lovely because I rode motorbikes quite a lot going through," he said.
"I had a really good experience with that.
"It’s nice. It’s all very familiar going back up there and remembering all the places."
