True blue? Tourists Steve and Natasha Fenn are looking for an explanation for the mystery spot in their photo.

A FLYING saucer or a speck of dust? This holiday snap has turned into a mysterious memento for a couple who visited Cairns last week.

Western Australian visitors Steve and Natasha Fenn took a series of pictures during a lunchtime stop at the Henry Ross Lookout on their way to the Skyrail station at Kuranda.

But only one of the photos shows a strange blob hovering in the sky, which they didn’t notice until loading their pictures on the computer after returning home.

Steve said he had no idea what the spooky spot could be, but a friend suspected paranormal activity.

“I’m pretty sceptical about that sort of stuff,” Steve said.

“I thought it could have been a bird flying past, but that thing looks like it’s round.

“We took about eight or 10 photos and it wasn’t on any of the others. They were taken virtually in sequence.”

After reading a report at cairns.com.au about mystery lights spotted crossing the sky over Kuranda, the Fenns forwarded their picture in the hope of finding answers.

“There were a few people there at the time, so maybe someone else knows what it was,” Steve said.

Steve said the odd encounter won’t stop the couple returning to holiday in Far North Queensland.

He said the unexpected happenings were all part of the region's attractions.

“Cairns is a wicked place, UFOs and all,” he said.
