Campers flock to Lake Tinaroo
Oar-some: Talisa Mar, Rebecca Xiong and Angela Kue enjoy Lake Tinaroo.
CAMPERS and outdoor enthusiasts are making a beeline for one of the Far North's most popular holiday spots - Lake Tinaroo, on the Atherton Tableland.
With a wide range of facilities and attractions, six campgrounds and day-use areas, Danbulla State Forest and Lake Tinaroo are a major drawcard for families to gather during the holidays.
Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities include hiking, bush walking, water sports, or just lazing around in a great environment.
Barron River MP Steve Wettenhall has encouraged visitors to take care to ensure a safe and happy holiday camping experience.
"Because of the large numbers of people doing different things, it is important to be considerate of others so that everyone has a great experience at Tinaroo.
"Rangers will be patrolling all six camp grounds over the Christmas and New Year period to ensure a safe and enjoyable camping experience for park visitors."
"On behalf of QPWS, I would like to wish all campers and day visitors a safe and enjoyable holiday period."
Camping requires a permit, which can only be obtained online or by phoning 131 304.
A recent change in rules means low-noise generators are now permitted in Downfall campground between 8am and 7pm daily, but all other campgrounds remain off limits for generator use.
