Prized duo sign with Fury
A-League battlers North Queensland Fury finally have something to smile about after beating newcomers Melbourne Heart to the signature of exciting youngster David Williams.
On a big day for the A-League cellar-dwellers, the Fury locked up the budding Socceroo on a two-year deal and striker Dyron Daal until the end of the 2010-11 season.
While North Queensland hardly lack firepower thanks to the presence of Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, the signings would have been music to the ears of coach Ian Ferguson who will be minus Daniel McBreen (Central Coast) next season.
"I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from both players," Ferguson said.
"We’ve signed both of them because we need to have that attacking presence alongside Robbie Fowler and they both bring that.
"They give you something extra each time they get the ball."
Williams, 21, has been on loan from Danish club Brondby while Daal – a Netherlands Antilles international – is on an injury replacement deal that would have expired at the end of the season.
Williams has been touted for great things since his teenage years and has already earned a Socceroos cap while Daal, 26, showed what he could do with a double in last week’s loss to Newcastle.
