Tropical firestorm
The Esplanade is going to be a hive of activity tonight, with a host of fantastic free entertainment to please anyone's tastes
The Esplanade is always the place to be on New Year’s Eve, with two massive fireworks displays and a heaps of free entertainment to suit all tastes provided by the Cairns Regional Council.
This year they are upping the ante, with not only the traditional family oriented options, but a bit for the funky young crowd as well.
The Esplanade Stage will kick on from 6pm-midnight, with top local acts Heather Angell, The Venus Project, The Disco Divas, Carinda Christie and AZIVA.
For those who want to dance their way into the New Year, the Fogarty Park stage will be rocking from 9pm-midnight to the sounds of Crasey vs Zackyboi from Electric Avenue, DJ Bart, Smooth-e and rising young DJ Xzayde, some of Cairns’ finest DJs, alongside VJ VDMO Kstati providing the visuals.
The Blue Moon Dance Party will be great for those who want to get their boogie on, but still catch the fireworks shows in all their glory.
Of course the main star of the night will be the Rattle N Hum Tropical Firestorm, with two massive shows from 9pm and midnight, synced with a special show from Sea FM, so make sure you bring your radios and picnic blankets or chairs to sit on.
There will also be amusement rides, food and a live radio broadcast in front of Rattle N Hum with Potts and Pacey, the Sea FM Morning Crew.
