Psychic expects mixed bag in 2010

GOVERNMENTS will reveal the existence of aliens, the Far North's tourism industry's woes will deepen and the Cairns Taipans will bounce back after their recent turmoil.

These are among the predictions one Cairns psychic sees for 2010 and beyond, with the new year set to bring more tough times but also good luck for many.

In a reading given to The Cairns Post, Christopher St John warned of another looming financial crisis, which would be much harder to weather than this year’s.

"There is going to be another crash in the stock market and maybe that’s a little bit later in the year," Mr St John said.

"The little bubble they’ve got at the moment; that’s probably going to be knocked for six."

Cairns could be hit hard and tourism operators would need to chase new markets to survive, he said.

"For tourism to work in this town, they have to develop markets that they haven’t developed before.

"Port Douglas is going to have a hard year, as far as tourism goes."

Mr St John also predicted falling popularity for Cairns Mayor Val Schier, lawsuits over the fluoridation of water and the return of free all-day parking at Cairns Central shopping centre.

The Cairns Taipans could enjoy NBL success in the next two years, but would require some major restructuring first.

"If they survive the next 12 months they will go on to some success here (but) there is likely to be quite a lot of changes," Mr St John said of the city’s basketball franchise.

"I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a new coach, and they’re likely to take on some new players and perhaps some from overseas."

And US President Barack Obama would be wise to watch his back, according to Mr St John’s reading.

"I believe there’s going to be an assassination, but I can’t give you the timing," he said.

"At the very least there’s going to be an attempt that everyone will see."

Increased recording and reporting of sightings of UFOs would place pressure on world governments to admit "the truth" of extra-terrestrial life, according to the reading.

"By the latter part of 2012 they are actually going to reveal the existence of extra-terrestrials."

Cairns should also prepare for "increased water inundation", he said.
