50 involved in Mareeba club brawl

A BRAWL involving 50 New Year's revellers has left one woman injured and marred the region's New Year's Eve festivities.

Police attended the brawl at a licensed venue in Byrnes St, Mareeba, just after midnight.

Police say two women became involved in a physical altercation before it escalated and about 50 people became involved.

One of the women involved in the original altercation was taken to the Mareeba Hospital to have her injuries treated.

Police investigations are ongoing.
