Caffeine fix: Nick Roberts serve up a coffee at Ever After in Lake St, Cairns.

HERE'S four top picks in the Cairns CBD to satisfy a coffee connoisseur's caffeine cravings.

Bang Espresso

Bang has become somewhat of a caffeine institution in the CBD.

Headed by a passionate team (all trained by World Barista Championship judges), it's service is every bit as sensational as its coffee.

Additions to the menu include ready-to-eat paninis, wraps and toasties plus gelato made to a fourth generation Italian family recipe.

Be sure to try a yummy white macadamia hot choc when the weather cools.

14 Spence St, Cairns, The Bolands Centre, Mon-Fri 6.30am-9pm, Sat 8am-9pm, Sun 10am-6pm, Ph: 4051 7770.

Coffee 21

As well as friendly service, ready-to-go lunches and mouth-watering 'cinos, new kid on the block Coffee 21 puts on a good glass of wine, or two.

A liquor licence means guests can sit down and enjoy lunch over a spot of red and daily lunch and beverage specials priced at less than $10 mean the experience won’t break the bank.

Like any good coffee spot, Coffee 21 puts out toasted paninis, bagels, wraps, salads and mouth-watering cakes.

21 Lake St, Cairns, Mon-Fri 6.30am-4pm, Coffee 21 also holds a liquor licence, Ph: 4041 1028.

Cocoa Amour

The folks from Cocoa’s, as it’s affectionately known, really are considerate.

They’re making sure outlets are available all over town for those in need of a quick fix.

The third cafe, this one on The Esplanade, has a totally different vibe to the others, but has the same great food and beverages.

There’s a range of spaces for a catch-up with the girls or spending a few hours reading the latest CAIRNSEYE.

It also has later opening hours for an evening meal or after-dinner coffee.

91 The Esplanade, Cairns, Sun–Thurs 7am-11pm, Fri–Sat 7am-midnight. Others at Earlville and the city, Ph: 4051 7437.

Ever After

When a coffee shop ticks all the boxes – friendly service, good food and a great brew – you’d think there’s nothing left to set it apart.

Then you get a creative idea like adding the sale of new and used books to the mix.

All this is set among quirky local art and chic interior design.

Since opening, the menu has evolved into a nice balance of quick and complex meals but the coffee hasn’t changed.

You can pretty much guarantee a perfect cup every time.

Shop 10, 85 Lake St, Main Street Arcade, Mon-Fri 6.30am-3.30pm, Sat 7.30am-2.30pm, Ph: 4031 5955.
