Skyrail's stunning views
View from the top: Skyrail is a unique way to experience the rainforest and views of the Cairns region.
WITHOUT a doubt, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway provides the best views in town.
Flying high, you’ll enjoy amazing views over Cairns, the Coral Sea, rainforest mountains and Barron Gorge and Falls.
Comfortable six-person cabins provide panoramic vistas over the Barron River delta and its sugar cane fields, sweeping out to Green Island.
Skyrail takes you effortlessly up the mountain, into the rainforest. Very quickly you feel a long way from the city as you sit back and peer down on the canopy, enjoying views that are normally reserved for the birds.
Before you know it, you are arriving at one of Skyrail’s two mid-stations. Red Peak has an elevated boardwalk, where ranger guides explain some unique plants, including a 400-year-old Kauri Pine.
From here, Skyrail’s 7.5km cableway tracks along the edge of Barron Gorge, providing stunning views of the Barron Falls.
Another mid-station here allows you to enjoy a longer look at the falls and gorge.
Skyrail takes you to or from Kuranda, where you can enjoy markets, shopping, lunch, lattes, homemade ice cream and a relaxing day in the village.
As well as the views, the best thing about Skyrail is its accessibility.
This easy, exciting cableway is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 9am to 5.15pm and can be enjoyed on its own or with Kuranda Scenic Railway.
