Flood, wind warning for Cape York
UPDATE: A severe weather warning has been issued for damaging winds, flash flooding and abnormally high tides north of Cairns this evening.
Northern parts of Cape York Peninsula were expected to be affected, after a tropical low earlier threatened to develop into a cyclone.
Although the cyclone watch was lifted earlier today, Far North Queensland could still be lashed by strong winds of up to 90km/h.
In the severe weather warning issued tonight, the weather bureau said at 10pm, the monsoon low was located near Cape Sidmouth on the eastern Cape York Peninsula and will continue to move slowly eastwards into the north-west Coral Sea tomorrow.
