Black on black
LITTLE BLACK DRESS: If you can make out what is going on here with the LBD you have better eyes than me.
It’s a bit like trying to unpick black stitching on black fabric.
The LBD is tucked into the black waistband of the skirt and bloused over to try and create a hemline similar to the bubble-skirt. Although not quite perfect, it was more successful than my first attempt of running a length of elastic through the hem of the LBD and gathering in the fabric. (I’m guessing that any male readers of the blog would have zoned out by now.) Whilst the elastic approach didn’t work with this dress due to the weight of the fabric and complication with buttons, I am going to try it with other dresses and skirts.
So onto things more successful. The skirt is actually an old t-shirt that someone much cleverer than me took the scissors to and then attached to a wide black lycra band. Which means you can also wear it as a strapless top. You can’t see it in this photo, but the neck hole of the t-shirt is still in one piece and creates an interesting peep-hole!
If you've got an old t-shirt lying around, give it the Edward Scissorhands treatment and let me know how you go.

LITTLE BLACK DRESS: (Sorry Mr King, this isn't a tribute post to Bob Dylan).
Waisted Hippie
LITTLE BLACK DRESS: My last attempt at Saturday casual met with mixed response: creative and accessorised well, but too many layers and apronly (which sounds appropriately similar to matronly).
